Ad copy is crucial to your Craigslist success. Your headline needs to be right on the money to get the clicks. Your ad also needs to spell the benefits out to the reader so that he will be compelled to pull his credit card. Killer copy is the key to creating storms of cash.

USFreeAds and Craigslist are great ways to get traffic to your site. You have to know how to use them, though. Let me explain.
USFreeAds
USFreeAds is a great site that I've written about extensively in a number of venues. The site is basically an online classified ad site. What's great is you can put the HTML for whatever you're selling right in the ad, even the PayPal link.
As far as using USFreeAds to send traffic to your site, again it's a great idea, but should not be the main focus of your efforts. It is a very effective way of testing ideas to see if they're going to work, though.
How you would use USFreeAds depends on what your site is about and what you're selling. If you actually have a product, I would try posting an ad that sent the prospect to my site, and also another ad that actually did all the advertising in the ad with a button in the ad so your prospect could do whatever it is you're asking them to do with no further clicking.
Some strategies are going to work better for some markets than others. So, as usual, testing is the name of the game.
USFreeAds offers three levels of membership. Free, Gold, and Premium.
Free is...well, free! Gold costs $10 per year, and Premium is $9.99 a month.
I don't really think you can test drive this thing with a free membership. Go for the Gold (sorry!) and see if it works for you.
One thing you want to do is to spend some time reading other people's ads.
When you write your ad, the same rules apply that apply to all copywriting situations. The headline is king! The first sentence next-and make sure you actually ask for the order. That is, if you want someone to click and buy, then say it. If you want them to click through to your site, then say that. Selling from your heels never works very well.
Craigslist
A lot of people have made a lot of money using Craigslist to sell information from. Craigslist is not moderated, except through users. So, it's easy to spam. The only problem is users get upset at spam and flag it and it gets removed.
Just like USFreeAds, you need to try several things with Craigslist to see if they work. I've listed stuff on Craigslist and had people actually email me months later to see if the item was still available.
One idea is to list what you're selling with a description and a link to your site. Because of the huge volume Craigslist receives, you'll have to redo your ad often.
Again, this is a secondary strategy, but I've actually been able to get a fair return on my time invested using Craigslist both to actually advertise products I'm selling and also to just get more traffic to one of my sites.

Unlimited Traffic
If you want more traffic to your website or blog, Craigslist is one of the best places to get free unlimited traffic to your site. You're not looking for traffic you're looking for targeted traffic, and Craigslist = quality targeted traffic.
Here I'm going to give you a few tips to posting on Craigslist to get the most out of your time and efforts.
First, never post the same ad to multiple cities, this is considered cross posting and SPAM. It might work for a while for some people but sooner or later Craigslist robots will stop you right in your tracks. Your ads will start getting flagged and you'll wonder why. Trust me.
Instead of posting the same ad all across Craigslist, you can mix it up a little by switching up headline and body with each ad, while still promoting the same product or service.
You must use different IP addresses to help avoid getting flagged.
Craigslist knows you by your IP address(your computer's identity.) Try to
change your IP address between every 10 post.
You also want to change e-mail accounts very often. Post no more than 10 ads
per day on one e-mail account. After you have posted 10 ads or less on one
e-mail account, then create another account, but don't forget to change your IP
address in between.
You can change your IP address by using a proxy at proxy.org. This is vital to getting lots of traffic through Craigslist.
No matter how much traffic Craigslist gets, if you don't have eye popping headlines and a short brief ad, you will be wasting your time.
Make your headline so that it will draw urgency or curiosity to the reader.
Here's an example: If your selling a lawn mower, your ad could say something
like this: "can your lawn mower do this?" See this headline will draw
curiosity to the reader to click your ad to see what's happening.

If this does happen to you, then the only way you can get your ads showing up again is to change your IP. I must say that Craigslist is one of the most challenging way of marketing on the internet. There are few factors that make me think this way. If you will start to post some ads on Craigslist, especially internet business you will have most likely 100% of your ads ghosted. What does it mean term "ghosted"? Basically it's when Craigslist tell you that your ad is live but unfortunately it's not listed in listing. As you see and you will experience all the time Craigslist is tricky. There are many factors that could bring your ad to be ghosted. Let's go step by step through basic checklist for not getting ghosted:
- Craigslist Accounts Or Mails You can't post on one acount to 10+ cities because Craigslist will automatically find your strange behaviour and ghost all your ads. I recommend 1 account or mail for 2,3 ads for safety.
- IP Address You can't also post a lot of ads using same ip addess. Change your ip every 5-10 posts, don't use public proxies because they don't work!
- Post Delay Posting ad one after another in 10-20 seconds also won't work. You have to post ads every 30 seconds to few minutes, depends how many craigslist accounts do u use or in which sections do you post and what kind of tactic do you use in your ads.
- Ad Headline And Body You have to be aware that Craigslist ban some words and phrases that are inside some spam ads, to find which one of words are in this blacklist simply test, test and test.
- Links, Images Basically you can't use your domain over and over again for links or images. I won't post more then 10 ads using the same domain for a link. Although it will still lately be burned, it will last longer.
- Section, City Each section, even city have different rules. You won't have any success until you will start to test your ads and find the best way for yourself.
- Unexpected Circumstances Sometimes Craigslist is doing something in some sections, changing site and no ads got through there. It happen often in job section in some cities. You can't do anything with it.
There are few rules you have to restrict to get listed in Craigslist. Of course it can vary for every section but I showed before some universal rules that should work in most cases. You have to stick on it and start testing, that's the best way to become master poster on Craigslist.

It’s never a huge surprise that when a new and innovative way comes around to
make money online, eventually there will be a glut of unscrupulous people
abusing the privilege. Essentially, this is what has happened on Craigslist,
where having offered the vehicle by which people like you and I could advertise
our offers to HUGE numbers of eyeballs for free…a huge influx of spammers has
ruined the proverbial party by posting so often their fingers are probably
bleeding from the effort.
And of course, to combat this, Craigslist has come up with a somewhat unique and annoyingly inconsistent way of reigning in the rotten apples. It is called “ghosting”, and is the process by which your ad appears to have been accepted by the system, looks “live” within your admin account..yet, is nowhere to be found in the real time results. Can be a very frustrating experience without any question, and has led many craigslist posting fanatics to jump ship and find greener pastures to pick.
Here is a very easy way for you to avoid the “ghost” if you are getting it..:-)
Now, I’ve written extensively about this in other places, and do only have
limited space here, but the simplest thing you can do if your ads are being
ghosted is this: Simply host your images somewhere that you see lots of other
ads using for theirs. Not your own domain obviously…a public image repository
is good for example. Link your CL ad to that image rather than pointing to your
own domain. Then..using your image editing software, simply overlay your URL
text into the image itself, thus negating the need for a live link, one of the
prime triggers for
Then…and this is a very well tested strategy by both myself and others, simply use a dial up connection when making your posts. One very well accepted cause of ghosting is multiple posts from the same IP - and simply logging in with a dial up modem, off and then on again for each set of new posts is a very simple, and effective way of negating that issue for me, and many others as well.
Of course there is more - but if you do the above, you WILL see your ghosting rates dropping fast, meaning more live ads, and more commissions for you! Good luck..:-)
